How to export your ChatGPT data

Export data from ChatGPT Settings → Data controls, download the zip, and import chats, skills, or notes into Smart AI Teams.

Export data from ChatGPT settings

  • Sign in to ChatGPT.
  • Open your profile menu.
  • Select Settings.
  • Select Data controls.
  • Under Export data, select Export.
  • On the confirmation screen, select Confirm export.

Download your export

ChatGPT sends an email or SMS message when the export is ready. Exports can take up to 7 days to arrive.

  • Open the message and select Download data export. The download link expires 24 hours after you receive it.
  • Download the export while you are signed in to the same account that requested it.
  • The downloaded ZIP file includes your chat history and other relevant account data.
  • Open the ZIP file and check that it contains the conversations you need. An export cannot restore chats that have already been deleted.

Import into Smart AI Teams

In your workspace, open the import prompt and drop the zip. conversations.json from inside the zip also works. You can also drop a SKILL.md file or a markdown memory note.

We pull reusable skills and memory-style notes. We do not copy your entire ChatGPT history as a live transcript.
